Doors, windows and verandahs

We look at the openings you actually use: the back door, a sliding door onto the patio, a verandah that funnels insects in at dusk.

In summer a lot of houses keep the back door open. Mosquitoes follow that path. A device in the middle of the lawn will not help the hallway if the problem is the opening. Screening, a closer, or a unit right at the door can be the practical conversation.

On a visit we look at the door that is used, the gap under it, any existing flyscreen, and how the verandah sits — open, enclosed, or a mix. We look at windows over the sink or the living room that stay ajar. We do not assume a new screen is always the answer. Sometimes the yard is feeding the doorway, and both have to be in the quote.

Included: a look at the openings, a note of what we would take on, and a written quote. Excluded unless agreed: replacing every window in the house, security doors as a product range, or claiming a brand of mesh we have not specified. Fit-out of a full enclosure is a bigger job than a door check.

The estimate depends on how many openings you want looked at, whether screens already exist, and whether the verandah is part of the sitting area. A single sliding door is not the same request as a long run of windows on a corner block.

Pick this type of work if mosquitoes are inside as well as in the yard. Send the suburb and postcode. We get in touch to arrange a visit. Sending the form does not start building work and does not take payment.
